How Plug and AI Pricing Works

Every new Slack workspace and every new Microsoft Teams tenant gets $1.00 of credit when the app is installed. No credit card needed to start.

One shared balance per workspace or tenant

Everyone in a Slack workspace (or Microsoft 365 tenant) draws from one credit balance. No per-user licenses, no seat counting — adding teammates adds no fixed cost.

Pay per use at AI provider rates

Each answer is charged from the balance at the AI provider's token rates for the model that answered. Cheap models cost fractions of a cent per request; premium models cost more. See the model list.

10% service fee, taken at top-up

90% of each payment becomes usable credit; 10% is our service fee. That fee is how Plug and AI is paid — there is no subscription on top.

In Microsoft Teams

Open PLAI's Dashboard personal tab in Teams desktop or web (not mobile) and click Top up. Stripe checkout opens in your browser for your tenant. Top-up is not shown in the Teams mobile app.

This is an illustration, not a typical or guaranteed bill. Your cost depends on how often your team asks, which models answer, and how much text each request carries.

Per-seat AI plans charge for every licensed user whether they use AI that month or not. These products differ in scope — Microsoft 365 Copilot, for example, works inside Word, Excel and Outlook — so compare features as well as price.

Are the free models really free?

In Slack, the free model chain answers at $0 and works even with a $0 balance. Free models run on shared, rate-limited capacity, so when the free chain fails the bot retries once on a cheap paid model: a workspace with a positive balance is charged for that answer automatically, and the reply names the model that answered. A workspace at $0 can get that retry at no charge from a limited shared budget. In Microsoft Teams, chatting requires a positive tenant balance, including on the free chain.

How do I top up credits?

In Slack, open the Plug and AI App Home and click the "💳 Buy More Credits" button, which opens Stripe checkout for your workspace. In Microsoft Teams, open the PLAI Dashboard personal tab in Teams desktop or web (not mobile) and click "Top up"; Stripe checkout opens in your browser. Top-up is not shown in the Teams mobile app.

Does my Slack or Teams balance also work on plai.chat?

No. plai.chat is a separate web chat product with its own per-user balance; plai.chat top-ups carry the same 10% service fee ($10 → $9 of plai.chat credit). Credits bought for a Slack workspace or Teams tenant are used only in that workspace or tenant.

Do credits expire, and can they be refunded?

Under our Terms of Service, unused credits may expire 1 year after purchase and are non-refundable except as required by law.
